The Base London was born from a simple yet powerful passion: bringing people together through quality ingredients and authentic hospitality. Founded by neighbours Valeria, Nicky, and Doron, our neighbourhood space is the realisation of a shared dream rooted in community spirit and a love for nurturing dining experiences.
What starts with handmade artisan baking and in-house roasted coffee opens into daytime rituals shaped around seasonal breakfast and lunch. As the afternoon fades, the space effortlessly transitions into a refined dinner setting, coming completely into its own for the evening.
By day, the rhythm is relaxed, bright, and welcoming, offering a familiar sanctuary for a fresh pastry, morning espresso, or a casual lunch. By night, the atmosphere transforms with candlelight, fine wine, and bold pan-Asian flavours across dishes designed for longer conversations. While the bakery remains our foundation, the experience extends far beyond it, celebrating quality and the timeless pleasure of gathering around the table. Valeria brings over two decades of expertise to the food industry, having spent years honing her craft and nurturing a deep appreciation for honest, wholesome ingredients. Bringing a premium bakery, speciality roastery, and restaurant experience to Barnes felt like a natural next step, a space where decades of knowledge could blossom into something truly local.
That culinary foundation is balanced beautifully by Nicky’s unique design sensibility. Bringing a finely tuned eye for detail and a lifelong love of antique artefacts, Nicky has personally curated the environment. The space is filled with carefully chosen, one-of-a-kind antique pieces that tell a story, adding a layer of genuine warmth, authenticity, and character to our dining room. We want every guest to feel as though they have stepped into a home away from home, where every texture and every light fixture has been considered with care.
